Invictus Bakery is looking for a Part-Time Instructor for our 18+ baking classes on Mondays and Wednesdays with availability from 10AM-4PM.
Invictus Bakery is a 501c3 - providing job training and employment for people on the autism spectrum.
We are looking for an Instructor to assist part-time on Mondays and Wednesdays for our baking class. These classes offer Bakers (18 or older) an overview of our culinary curriculum in an environment that emphasizes learning real-world culinary skills. These classes are focused on training Bakers on comfortably navigating the kitchen space, understanding safety and sanitation practices, and preparation of batters and doughs for our various products. Students build stamina, learn and practice basic culinary skills and develop the ability to work together to create a tangible product that supports job training for students on the autism spectrum. These classes are an artful blend of customized instruction, learning, and social gathering for career-oriented, culinary and pastry bakers as well as ambitious newcomers with an interest in the culinary arts.
We are seeking a lively, upbeat, and positive instructor with baking or culinary experience, and is food handler/protection certified with the NYC Department of Health. We are looking for a pastry professional that can bring their high standards to our ever-growing program. The instructor will additionally help oversee large-quantity orders, which includes creating production schedules and preparing ingredients and managing and tracking inventory, to ensure quality and proper and timely fulfillment and delivery of orders. The ability to multitask and stay organized and attention to detail are key to this role.
This role may expand to other days of the week, depending on our evolving needs. Interest and passion working with people with developmental differences and furthering our mission are a must, although prior experience is a bonus.
