Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Line Cook to join our kitchen team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing high-quality meals according to our recipes, ensuring efficiency, consistency, and adherence to food safety standards. The Line Cook must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, maintain a clean workstation, and collaborate with the kitchen team to deliver an exceptional dining experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes, portion sizes, and quality standards.
  • Set up and stock station with all necessary supplies before and during shifts.
  • Ensure food preparation meets company and health department regulations.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Monitor and maintain freshness, temperature, and presentation of food.
  • Follow proper food handling, sanitation, and storage procedures.
  • Assist in receiving and storing deliveries.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation.
  • Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff to ensure timely service.
  • Adhere to safety and hygiene regulations at all times.
  • Assist in other kitchen duties as needed.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Arrive to work every day with a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, & prepared for the shift; Place all personal items in the proper designated areas
  • Check in with your teammates and the manager upon arrival and before leaving to see if you can do anything for them 
  • Use heightened awareness on any allergy table, and work to code according to our allergy standards
  • Maintain effective communication with all teammates
  • Complete weekly cleaning duties, in addition to opening and closing duties
  • Execute Culinary offerings with a high level of precision and care
  • Maintain all BeefBar policies and standard operating procedures
  • Ensure effective communication with culinary management team, FOH management team, and all staff
  • Assist in oversight of kitchen staff programming (service and hospitality standards) to ensure all duties are met and exceeded
  • Assist in maintenance of facility and provide opportunities for improvement
  • Communicate with Culinary Management nightly in “Post Op” about any opportunities to improve function and product of Kitchen staff
  • Assist in training of new team members
  • Provide leadership to kitchen team in Head Chef and Sous Chef’s absence
  • Maintain complete knowledge of products and specifications. This includes ingredients, descriptions, sourcing, brands, allergens, etc
  • Ensure sanitation standards and procedures that comply with health and legal regulations with the advice of the company
  • Focus on always continuing your education and into all facets of our operations, be it the Bar, Kitchen and Service programs
  • Maintain a reasonable schedule with flexible availability, including early mornings or late nights, holidays, and time for All Staff meetings and tastings 
  • Always maintains the appearance of the restaurant while adhering to safety and health standards set forth by the NY State Department of Health
  • Informs manager on duty immediately of any DOH or OSHA/workplace safety violations

Essential Functions

  • Knowledge of Beefbar NY brand, culture, and product
  • Must be able to lift, move, and carry heavy boxes (at least 50 lbs)
  • Able to walk, stand, and/or bend continuously and for extended periods as required to perform essential job functions Occasional kneeling, bending, crouching, and climbing is required
  • Available to work weekends, nights, and holidays per the needs of the business
  • Able to perform essential job functions under pressure, maintain professionalism when working under stress
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Must be reachable by email and able to communicate via phone as well
  • Polished personal presentation; Grooming meets company standards outlined in the Employee Handbook
  • Knowledge of workplace safety procedures and New York State Department of Health standards for bar and food service

 Work and Education Experience

  • 2+ years of experience in an upscale, high-volume restaurant environment  
  • High school diploma or GED
