Chefs John & Karen Shields’ 3 Star Michelin destination, Smyth, is seeking a Front Waiter. Responsibilities include having in-depth knowledge of dishes, preparation methods, and ingredients, assisting the expeditor, keeping service team abreast of dish changes, and conveying John & Karen's vision through food. Exceptional wine knowledge is also required. These roles are highly guest-facing, and grace under pressure is a key characteristic to success.
Smyth features a tasting menu that showcases locally-grown ingredients from our partners from around the Illinois, Wisconsin and Michigan areas. Our beverage offerings are highly wine-driven, with three pairing options available, so competency with wine knowledge and service are both key. We are open Tuesday through Saturday and full-time availability is needed for these roles.
We seek candidates with a passion for knowledge & growth and a genuine interest in the art of hospitality. We prefer individuals with at least one year of experience but appreciate those who express curiosity and a passion for the industry.
