Who We Are

Sitting on a quiet tree-lined street in Soho, twelve floors rise above the neighborhood’s storied lofts, boutiques, and galleries. The name derives from the particular manner of hospitality, one that feels more like staying at the home of a dear friend than at a hotel — discreet, refined, generous. Our hotel has 90 rooms and suites with four distinct F&B concepts led by an acclaimed chef. The street-side seafood restaurant and second floor cocktail bar will be venues that are open to the public. The Apartment and The Rooftop are spaces reserved exclusively for guests and friends of guests. While our hotel falls under the Standard International umbrella, it will be positioned as a wholly distinct and separate concept from The Standard with a different market positioning, design aesthetic, and service culture.

Job Purpose:

The Restaurant Host/Hostess is responsible for greets and welcomes guests, seats tables, and maximizes the selling potential of the restaurant area.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Greet and welcome guests always with a smile

· Walk said guests to their table, pull out chair or table from banquet to assist in seating guest

· Ensure that the tables are properly set up , silverware, napkins and table are clean

· Preset tables for large parties reservations

· Organize reservations on the sheet and call back any messages.

· Confirm reservations and effectively fill reservation sheet maximizing seating potential.

· Control and coordinate all tables in the designated section.

· Inform the relevant server and busser of table reservations.

· Give seated guests both food and drinks list

· Ensure menus are in perfect condition before being presented to the guest.

· Responsible for keeping menu inventory and printing menus daily.

· Assist guest with issues, resolving them and communicating to management.

· Attend F&B meetings, and daily pre shifts

· Other duties assigned by Manager.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:

· 2+ years’ experience in upscale restaurant, previous serving experience required.

· Have worked previously with reservation system Resy

· Able to hear and speak clearly to communicate with guests and co-workers.

· Ability to read, comprehend and carry out instructions according to established procedures

· Fluent in the English language, write, read and speak. Bi or Multi-lingual preferred.

· Work efficiently, utilize multi-tasking, prioritize tasks.

· Previous work experience in restaurants or hospitality jobs.

Physical Requirements:

· Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 lb. without assistance.

· Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.

· Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire work shift.

· Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.

· Remain in stationary position for extended periods of time.
