Obélix, located in River North, provides a French bistro experience through the lens of two French-American brothers who grew up in Chicago. Obélix has been named a finalist for Best New Restaurant by the James Beard Foundation. It received top honors upon opening from Chicago Magazine for Best New Restaurant in 2022.
We are looking to grow our professional team with individuals who have a talent for unpretentious but thoughtful and warm hospitality.
Obélix is hiring one full time host to work five shifts per week. We are currently open day and evening: Thursday through Monday for dinner; Friday, Thursday, and Monday for lunch; and Saturday-Sunday for brunch. The host will be expected to work either four dinner and one brunch service, or five dinner services.

Duties Include:
- Answering the phones and managing voicemails, emails, and messages
- Setting and running the floorplan for the service
- Greeting and seating guests
- Managing coat check
- Assisting with menu formatting and printing
- Keeping accurate and complete guest notes
- Maintaining communication with servers and other dining room staff
- Assists as necessary with service tasks such as running food or setting tables
Qualifications:
- Familiarity with and ability to learn reservation platform
- Availability for a consistent schedule Thursday - Monday
- A passion for food, beverage, and hospitality
- Able to take initiative, problem solve, make decisions
- Able to maintain calm communication in busy periods
- ServSafe and Food Handler Certification
- Able to stand for eight hours and carry up to 40lbs
