Walk through the door at Gypsy Kitchen, on Washington, D.C.’s bustling 14th Street, and you’ll know you’re about to experience something special—an eclectic bohemian escape & culinary adventure. The seductive dining room is filled with richly patterned woven rugs and tapestries, softly glittering lights and vibrant Moorish tiles, with cozy vignettes that foster intimate conversations. Head up to the rooftop patio where unobstructed city views and plush cushions welcome guests to settle in.

Just like travelers collecting favorite memories and souvenirs, our team has gathered the most compelling flavors and techniques from Spain, Greece, Lebanon, Morocco, Israel and beyond. Our menu is peppered with familiar ingredients like housemade hummus, whole roasted branzino, roasted lamb, serrano ham and succulent grilled prawns. You’ll also find lesser known, delightfully flavorful creations like smoked duck prosciutto cured with oranges and Turkish coffee, tuna crudo with harissa and squid ink tuile, and whipped labneh with za’atar-roasted local legumes. The menu of shared plates is formatted so you can wander and explore to your heart’s content, guided by our gracious staff. Our cocktails incorporate the same exuberance, with distinctive flavors, lesser-known spirits and creative techniques, while the carefully curated wine list lets guests uncover new favorites from the Mediterranean’s many coastal wine growing regions.

Whether it’s a romantic dinner for two, drinks with friends on the rooftop under the stars or a low-key weeknight bite, every visit to Gypsy Kitchen feels like a celebration—of the romance of travel, culinary curiosity and joyful connections made over a terrific meal.
