Plantega’s mission is to make plant-based food easy to access everywhere. Our iconic menu features vegan versions of NYC deli favorites like the Chopped Cheese, Bacon, Egg, & Cheese, Chicken Sandwiches, and much more! As a Cook, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the success of Plantega’s kitchen and catering operations by preparing high-quality, plant-based meals for delivery and high-volume catering orders. You will report directly to the Kitchen Manager and work closely with the broader Plantega team to maintain Plantega’s high standards of food quality and service.
Responsibilities:
- Food Preparation: Prepare and cook a variety of plant-based/vegan dishes according to Plantega’s recipes and standards. Ensure that all food is made with the highest quality ingredients and presented attractively.
- Assist with Catering: Support the catering operations by preparing and cooking items for catering orders. Ensure that all catering orders are completed accurately and on time.
- Maintain Cleanliness: Keep the kitchen and work areas clean and organized. Follow all sanitation and safety guidelines to ensure a safe and healthy working environment. Completes assigned daily and weekly cleaning projects, including dishwashing.
- Inventory Management: Assist with the management of kitchen inventory, including checking in deliveries, storing ingredients properly, and helping to monitor food waste.
- Recipe Adherence: Follow established recipes and portion sizes to ensure consistency in food quality and presentation. Assist in the development and testing of new recipes as needed.
- Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service by preparing orders promptly and accurately. Assist with customer inquiries and ensure a positive experience.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the Kitchen Manager and other team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations. Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for improving processes and menu offerings.
- Training: Assist in training new kitchen staff as needed. Share knowledge and best practices to help maintain a high-performing kitchen team.
- Compliance: Adhere to all Department of Health regulations and occupational health and safety standards.
Qualifications:
- Based in NYC and eligible to work in the United States.
- Qualifying Certificate in Food Protection issued by the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is required.

Must have availability Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 2pm-10pm

Proven experience as a cook or in a similar role within the food service industry.
- Knowledge of plant-based cooking and ingredients is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to food quality.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle high-pressure situations.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for long periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
