One White Street is looking for a Pastry Cook to join our team. Our mission is to set a new standard of what a neighborhood restaurant can be; to be ambassadors for Tribeca, our community, and our industry; and to be a restaurant with no borders or boundaries.

One White Street is a restaurant in downtown New York City from Chef Austin Johnson. Located in a historic Tribeca townhouse, One White Street is a place to feel at home.

The Opportunity

The Pastry Cook plays an integral part of the restaurant and will participate in the opening, they plan, prep, set-up and provide quality service in all areas of food production for menu items and specials in the designated outlets within departmental quality standards, recipes and plating guide specifications, all while upholding One White Street's culture. The Pastry Cook will work closely to support the Pastry Chef in preparing ingredients, stocking and organizing, recipe development and executing service. 

 What You’ll Be Doing

  • Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of food service and storage facilities.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment; use equipment and tools only as intended, properly and safely
  • Set up workstation with required mise en place, tools, equipment and supplies according to standards
  • Check production schedule and pars and establish priority items for the day
  • Prepare all menu items following recipes and yield guides, according to department standards in a time efficient manner
  • Restock items that were depleted during the shift
  • Communicate with Front of House to manage timing of courses, any guest feedback, etc.
  • Update knowledge and skills by participating in staff training opportunities
  • Be a team player—support and assist your fellow team members whenever possible
  • Ensure company policies, procedures and brand standards are always followed.
  • Follow Health & Safety and Food Safety standards.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by management

Requirements:

  • 1+ years of Pastry Cook experience in a restaurant
  • Food Handler’s permit (within 30 days upon hiring)
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50+ pounds
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays, and variable schedule per the needs of the business

Compensation Details

Compensation: Hourly ($20.00 - $22.00)
