Sous Chef – Eastside Mexican Cuisine
Successful restaurant group in Los Angeles is seeking a talented Sous Chef for their elevated Mexican concept featuring exciting fresh coastal cuisine. Great opportunity for a chef that is passionate about Mexican flavors and using the best possible ingredients to deliver on a vibrant, bold Baja-inflected menu.
Sous Chef Responsibilities:
- Support the Executive Chef
- Ensure all food meets the highest standards of quality and consistency
- Keep track of new trends in the industry
- Lead and mentor a strong culinary team, including hands on in the kitchen and on the line
- Maintain a positive, work environment via effective, professional communication with other employees and managers
- Ordering, receiving, inventory and maintaining food costs
- Ensure best practices for safety and sanitation in the kitchen
Sous Chef Preferred Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience in a similar position (Sous Chef, Kitchen Manager, Kitchen Supervisor, Junior Sous)
- Love for seasonal, quality ingredients
- Proven experience in Mexican cuisine and techniques
- Ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment
- Excellent communication skills and leadership qualities
- Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
