Summary

The server is responsible for positive guest interactions while serving guests in a friendly and efficient manner and play an integral role in ensuring guests have exceptional dining experiences. At all times, servers are expected to be attentive to guests' needs, making them feel welcome, comfortable, important and relaxed. The server is passionate about food and service and thoroughly enjoys creating excellent experiences for guests. 

Responsibilities

• Preps section and readies for service 

• Memorizes the menu and recommend appetizers, meals, drinks and wine list offerings 

• Helps guests select food and beverages by suggesting courses, explaining the chef’s specialties, identifying appropriate beverage pairings, and answering food preparation questions 

• Is mindful and ensures that each order sent to the kitchen takes into account any dietary or allergy restrictions 

• Takes guest orders and relays them accurately to relevant team members 

• Communicates food and drink orders to the kitchen and bar 

• Serves guests with food and beverages in a positive and friendly manner, delivering accompaniments and condiments from service bars 

• Paces each course and keep lines of communication open with the kitchen chef or expediter, keeping kitchen staff informed by noting timing of meal progression. 

• Reads each table and guest and anticipate their needs in order to facilitate an enjoyable dining experience 

• Performs table maintenance by removing courses when completed, replacing utensils; ensuring water glasses stay full; being present and aware in order to assist with any spills or special requests 

• Responds to additional guest requirements by checking in on guests and observing dining process. 

• Delivers a memorable dining experience by resolving all customer issues promptly 

• Offers dessert and/or the check once tables are cleared 

• Delivers check, collects and process payment in a timely manner 

• Concludes dining experience by thanking guests, acknowledging choice of restaurant and inviting guests to return. 

• Participates in running side work throughout the shift, running food or drinks, assisting in pre-bussing tables, sweeping floors, helping teammates 

• Assisting with the tidying of tables, clearing leftovers and keeping the dining area neat and pleasant 

• Helps team members out as needed by seating other servers’ tables and running their food if section is not full 

• Cleans and organizes the restaurant as needed by rolling cutlery and polishing wine glasses if section is not full 

• Conducts all responsibilities in a prompt, friendly, and organized manner 

• Assists in training new employees as required 

• Assists in setting tables and rearranging the dining area to accommodate larger groups and prepare the restaurant for special events 

• Maintains dining ambiance with an enthusiastic attitude. 

• Prepares room for dining by setting tables and decorations, condiments, candles, napkins, service plates, and utensils. 

• Protects restaurant and patrons by adhering to health department, sanitation, safety, and alcohol beverage control policies 

• Cooperate and communicate with all serving and kitchen staff 

Requirements

• 2 years experience as a server in a fast paced full service restaurant 

• Good understanding of restaurant health and safety regulations 

• High school diploma or GED 

• Working knowledge of Toast POS system 

• Able to handle money accurately 

• Be of legal age to serve alcohol 

• Strong attention to detail, multi-tasking and time management skills 

• Availability to work around peak hours, including nights, early mornings, weekends, and holidays. 

  • Willingness to work as part of a high-energy, efficient team in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to clearly communicate guests' needs to team members 

• Able to hear well in a loud environment in order to respond to guest requests 

• Passion for providing extraordinary service

Must be able to stand, lift and bend for extended periods of time. Role may include job duties or tasks requiring repetitive motion. Exposure to hot kitchen elements or cleaning materials. Frequent use of hand to finger motions, handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms.
