Job Details

Upscale French Restaurant Group is seeking an experienced, motivated individual to join our team as a Maitre d’Hotel. As a lead member of our front-of-house service team, the Maitre d’Hotel is responsible for logistic details, including reservations and arrangements for large parties, as well as setting the overall ambiance and atmosphere of the restaurant space. Our ideal candidate has considerable prior experience in high-end food service environments, an impeccable demeanor, excellent customer service skills, and logistical and organizational acumen. 

 

Location: 

 

Primary responsibilities: 

  • Open door for guests arriving and departing  
  • Greeting customers as they walk into the restaurant 
  • Guide guests to their table and accommodate specific seating requests to the best of your ability 
  • Provide customers with menus and answering any initial questions they may have  
  • Make, adjust, and cancel reservations 
  • Answer any questions regarding food, drinks, and specials 
  • Resolve guest complaints or disputes 
  • Manage waitstaff to ensure efficient and excellent service throughout a given seating 
  • Manage restaurant waiting list during peak times to accurately set guest expectations 

 

Skills and Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred 
  • 2+ years of experience in a comparable FOH role 
  • Outgoing, can-do attitude and ability to maintain grace and composure during high-volume shifts 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to multitask and pivot when necessary 
  • Ability to work effectively within a team 
  • Ability to be on your feet and alert for extended periods of time 
  • Hold a current Food Handler’s license or must obtain within a month of hire 

 

Languages: Italian and French (highly preferred)
