El Che Bar, the recently opened restaurant from chef John Manion, is looking to hire and experienced bartender. Our approach is to present guests with a high-energy atmosphere complemented by precise and refined service. Solid wine knowledge is preferred but not required, as education and continued training will be a large component of team involvement. Knowledge of beer, spirits, cocktail history and modern cocktail technique is a must. We are looking to form a committed FOH family motivated to provide a welcoming and attentive guest experience each night. About the restaurant: Housed in the old Checker Taxi building, El Che Bar is Chef John Manion’s spirited Argentine-American restaurant, a love letter to his time traveling throughout the country. In a warm and eclectic setting, the restaurant evokes the contemporary rhythms of Buenos Aires filtered through a Chicago lens. Locally sourced vegetables, grilled meats, and seafood is showcased on custom-built grills and chapas in an open hearth, while the bar and wine programs frame classic styles and appellations in a creatively contemporary and natural approach. El Che Bar is located at 845 W. Washington Blvd.

Compensation Details

Compensation: Hourly ($12.00) plus tips

El Che Steakhouse & Bar is Executive Chef/Partner John Manion’s homage to Argentina's beloved asados, those traditional backyard barbecues featuring platters of rustic flame-finished grilled beef. This Argentinian-influenced steakhouse, located just beyond the West Loop’s famed “restaurant row,” has built a reputation as Chicago's go-to destination for beef, wine and live-fire cooking. A 12-foot custom-built grill serves as the inspiration for El Che’s menu, which includes South American-tinged meats, seasonal vegetables, seafood and novel barrio-inflected snacks. Its heat — both figuratively and literally — can be felt throughout the restaurant, especially at the Chef’s Counter and Hearth Table located directly in front of it. Chef Manion’s passion for Latin America, where he lived as a child, imbues the deeply flavorful dishes and dramatic setting of the charming 100-seat restaurant.
