Join our downtown Chicago culinary team as a Sous Chef. Assist the Chef Manager in all kitchen operations, ensuring a fast-paced and robust food program. Step in for the Chef Manager as needed, maintaining high standards of quality and service.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Direct food preparation and collaborate with the Chef Manager.
- Write schedules for prep and line cooks; submit to Kitchen Supervisor.
- Train and supervise kitchen staff.
- Ensure consistency and quality in food preparation.
- Maintain a clean and organized production space.
- Oversee ordering, inventory, and supplies management.
- Monitor kitchen equipment.
- Address kitchen-related issues in the Chef Manager’s absence.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of kitchen experience; experience as a Sous Chef or similar role.
- Strong culinary skills and knowledge of cooking methods.
- Leadership, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
- Ability to work in a high-pressure environment.
- Capable of lifting up to 75 lbs repeatedly and standing for 10-hour shifts.
- High school diploma or equivalent; culinary degree is a plus.
