Beckon is a Michelin-starred restaurant in Denver, known for its intimate dining experience and a commitment to culinary excellence. Our seasonal tasting menu is crafted with precision and creativity, reflecting the best of locally sourced ingredients. We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Pastry Assistant to join our team and support our pastry chef in delivering an exceptional dessert experience to our guests.

The Pastry Assistant will work closely with the Pastry Chef to prepare and execute all aspects of the dessert menu. This position requires a strong attention to detail, creativity, and a passion for the craft of pastry. The ideal candidate is motivated, eager to learn, and capable of working in a high-pressure, fine-dining environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Pastry Chef in the preparation and execution of desserts, breads, and other baked goods.
  • Measure, mix, and bake ingredients according to recipes and specifications.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to all food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Assist with the development and testing of new dessert menu items.
  • Monitor inventory and notify the Pastry Chef of any shortages or issues.
  • Plate and present desserts in a visually appealing manner, ensuring consistency and quality.
  • Participate in daily kitchen prep and assist with other duties as required by the kitchen team.
  • Collaborate with the team to maintain a positive and efficient work environment.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a pastry or bakery role, preferably in a fine-dining setting.
  • Strong knowledge of baking techniques and pastry fundamentals.
  • Ability to follow recipes precisely and replicate the chef's vision.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards.
  • Flexible schedule with the ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Culinary degree or relevant certification preferred, but not required.
