Job Details
Quarters is a newly opened retail and hospitality concept in Tribeca, New York, from the founders of the design brand In Common With. The concept includes a wine bar, daytime cafe, event space, and gallery—and in 2025, it will expand to include an upstairs private dining room. While not their personal home, the founders treat it like it is, and that's how they want everyone to feel when visiting. It aims to combine the comfort of a private residence with the energy of a hospitality space. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • The Bartender is responsible for providing an exceptional bar and dining experience through friendly and efficient guest service and impeccable order execution, upholding the standards of the bar and culinary menus, and creating a hospitable atmosphere for all guests. Bartenders work closely with all front- and back-of-house team members to uphold the standards of the bar program and create a welcoming atmosphere, elevating Quarters’ brand and service standards at all times.
Service

  • Prepare and serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in accordance with standard recipes for guests at the bar as well as the main dining room. 
  • Ensure the ongoing excellence in quality of bar ingredients and materials by providing regular quality assurance checks.
  • Ensure efficiency of beverage ticket times. 
  • Ensure the techniques specific to each cocktail-build are accurate based on house recipes. 
  • Assist in the opening and closing of the restaurant, ensuring all service stations are set up and broken down efficiently.  Complete opening and closing checklists.
  • Warmly greet and engage with guests, making them feel welcome and valued throughout their dining experience. 
  • Answer questions about menu items, provide recommendations, and determine available options for guests with dining restrictions.
  • Provide guests with unique insights, stories & knowledge about our food & beverage offerings that contribute to a heightened experience.
  • Provide attentive and personalized service throughout the meal, including taking orders, delivering dishes, and ensuring guest satisfaction. 
  • Process guest payments via cash and credit card transactions, ensuring accuracy of checks.
  • Maintain an organized and calm demeanor during peak service times, ensuring that all tables are served efficiently, and guest needs are met promptly. 
  • Communicate closely with the floor team to ensure that guest orders, special requests, and timing are handled smoothly. 
  • Train, mentor, and support fellow servers and front-of-house staff to maintain a knowledgeable and motivated team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. 
  • Handle guest inquiries, special requests, and concerns with professionalism and poise, ensuring that all issues are resolved to the guest’s satisfaction and escalating to management when necessary.
  • Support all aspects of service as needed to provide the best possible guest experience. 
  • Maintain complete knowledge of Quarters’ policies and procedures and ensure that all practices and policies are being upheld.
  • Attend mandatory meetings, including staff meetings, leadership meetings, etc.
  • Adhere to posted schedules.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by management.

Menu Knowledge

  • Maintain a deep knowledge of Quarters’ food and beverage menu, ingredients, and preparation.
  • Maintain a moderate knowledge of Quarters’ wine list and recommended pairings.
  • Understand different types of allergy restrictions and help communicate potential issues to floor and kitchen staff.

Sanitation, Hygiene, and Safety

  • Maintain and strictly abide by state sanitation/health regulations and hotel requirements and procedures.
  • Adheres to all Department of Health and Safety standards related to food handling, hygiene, and alcohol service, including reviewing identification of all guests to verify they are of legal drinking age. 
  • Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment; use equipment and tools only as intended, properly and safely.
  • Inspect the cleanliness and organization of the line and workstations; rectify any deficiencies.
  • Inspect the cleanliness and working condition of all tools, equipment and supplies, ensuring everything complies with standards.
  • Inform supervisor on duty immediately of any DOH or OSHA/workplace safety violations.
  • Maintain proper storage procedures as specified by Department of Health requirements.
Qualifications

  • 3 year minimum as a bartender in a similar caliber concept.
  • Strong knowledge of cocktail and beverage service as well as culinary concepts and terminology. 
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • TIPS certification preferred.
  • Familiarity with restaurant POS systems.
  • Proficient in a variety of technology systems, particularly Resy & Shopify.
  • Ability to work a variable schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays, per the needs of the business.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent time management, organizational skills, and problem-solving skills.
  • Adaptable in a fast-paced and challenging work environment.
  • Polished personal presentation that meets Company standards.
  • Passion for exceptional hospitality, food, and beverage.

Essential Functions and Physical Demands

This job requires meeting specific physical demands to perform essential duties effectively. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enableindividuals with disabilities to perform those essential functions. While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:

  • Exert well-paced mobility for periods of up to 12 hours per day.
  • Lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Frequently stand, walk, reach, bend, stoop, push, pull, and kneel.
  • Frequently utilize the stairs, often while lifting and carrying items.  
  • Occasionally crouch and climb.
  • Be exposed to hazards including, but not limited to, burns, cuts, scrapes, and frequent exposure of hands to water.
  • Withstand fluctuations in temperature within the work environment, from high heat to below freezing.
  • Be exposed to common allergens and unique ingredients.

Studio + Compensation
  • This is a part-time position based in Tribeca, New York
  • Hours of Operation:
    • Bar Room: Thursday-Saturday, 5 pm-11 pm
    • Special Events (Tuesday-Saturday pre-booked, minimum 30 days in)
