Méli Wine & Mezze, a Greek-ish restaurant, one of the 29 Best New Restaurants in the DC Area by Washingtonian Magazine (August 2024), is hiring a BARTENDER!
We are seeking a creative, responsible, friendly bartender to join our service team at Méli Wine & Mezze.
Passion about wine and food is a must. We’re looking for collaborative, team-players who are looking to do a little of everything—from bartending to serving and hosting.
ABOUT US
Méli is a Greek(ish) members-only wine & mezze café inside of the Silva Apartment building. At Meli, we believe in the power of delicious wine & food in creating community. Our name, "Meli," which in Greek means both "member" and "honey," is a reference to our favorite mezze cafés and stands for the hospitality we extend to both our visitors and one another. We're women-owned + operated and deeply committed to community engagement in our neighborhood. Giving back is part of our business model.
We add a 20% service charge to pay a higher hourly wage to our hourly team members. The 20% allows us to create equality and stability in our industry. We aim to ensure fair, equitable wages and benefits for hourly team members. Any gratuity added is distributed among all hourly dining room and kitchen team members who help create your dining experience.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Your role is to create delicious experiences at the bar with our guests. You’ll work closely with the manager and the other members of the team to create a different type of restaurant, built on relationship-building and multi-channel sales.
We operate Tuesday - Saturday evenings. Relationships at Méli are built on respect for each other and passion for our product—food & wine.
Additional responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, hosting, greeting, closing, and opening duties.
QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates should be organized, self-motivated, outside-the-box creative thinkers that thrive in a team-oriented, collective environment. Friendliness is a must—we operate inside a residential building; memory for names & faces is essential to building relationships with our co-tenants. Candidates should have prior experience in the hospitality sector.
COMPENSATION
All Sales Team member will make a range of $18- $21 plus commission . After passing training assessments, a commission rate of 3-5% of pooled team sales will be assigned based on a combination of skill, knowledge, and assessed collaboration with our team. This is a full-time position that requires 30 hours per week. Candidates must be available from 3pm to 12am daily.

Compensation Details
Compensation: Hourly ($18.00 - $23.00) plus tips
