Job Description 

The barista is a key member of the FROTH Chicago café team. This role not only executes our warm, friendly service experience but also creates the hand-crafted drinks that our customers have grown to love. This café takes a cocktail approach to coffee, so this position is great for someone who loves to create and experiment with coffee-based drinks to create something amazing for our customers. Our company is ideal for someone that enjoys taking care of others, is passionate about coffee, and works well on a team. We are looking for baristas who are excited to join our company and be part of our unique café experience! This position is full-time, 32+ hours per week.

Starting hourly is $14/hr + tips. Average hourly tips = $9 at this location. Assume a take home hourly rate of $23/hr

Job Responsibilities

  • Act as the main point of contact for our customers, both through online orders and in person orders; provide exceptional customer service throughout every interaction
  • Prepare hot and cold drinks according to the recipes as well as modifying based on customer needs
  • Work in a way that maintains a clean and tidy work area while following all city and state health guidelines
  • If needed, serve alcohol in a safe manner; maintain a BASSET certification during your tenure
  • Solve customer problems; ask for help if needed; work to provide a high level of service with each interaction
  • Work in a fast-paced environment while staying calm and organized
  • Collaborate with your teammates during each shift to provide an exceptional experience; work closely with building/residential staff as needed
  • Help create new café drinks using a cocktail approach: combining ingredients to create a new experience; participate in the research & development process of our menu
  • Communicate shift needs to the FROTH Slack channels before, during, and after your shift
  • Complete assigned tasks as requested by Leadership Team including but not limited to side work and inventory

Essential Job Requirements:

  • Passion for hospitality and coffee
  • 1+ years’ experience as a Barista or food service role; familiarity with coffee drinks and coffee varieties a plus; experience as a bartender a plus
  • Ability to maintain a BASSET certificate and Chicago food handlers license
  • Must possess a positive attitude and the ability to smile under all circumstances
  • High integrity with a great attendance record
  • Strong attention to detail, especially when working under pressure
  • Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills
  • Participate in training in order to comply with new or existing laws
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends where business demands
  • Neat, clean, professional at all times throughout the workday and/or whenever present at the community
  • Comply with expectations as demonstrated in the employee handbook
  • Demonstrate ability to diffuse and respond to customer concerns to avoid escalation of the problem.

Compensation Details

Compensation: Hourly ($14.00 - $15.00) plus tips
