One of Chicago’s most respected cocktail bars, The Berkshire Room is a craft cocktail lounge from The Fifty/50 Restaurant Group that is free of pretension while giving the guest, unparalleled service in sleek and refined surroundings. Opened in 2013, The Berkshire Room specializes in “Dealer’s Choice”, barrel-finished, and house cocktails.
The Berkshire Room is looking for a Bar Manager to help manage the beverage program, facilitate day-to-day operations and assist with guest services. We are looking for someone that is a self-starter, hard worker and a team player.
Essential Functions:
- 2 to 5 years of craft cocktail bartending experience with at least 1-year bar management experience
- Have extensive spirits, beer, wine and craft cocktail knowledge with concentrations in whiskey and liqueurs/cordials/amaros
- Experience with creating cocktails using seasonal ingredients and working with an in-house ice program
- Assist the General Manager with administrative duties including financials, ordering, inventory, cost of goods
- Accountability and timeliness with a positive, confident attitude
- Lead by example, work in conjunction with the management team and the staff
- Have attention to detail and willingness to assist in service in all venues of the ACME Hotel, including West Town Bakery, Bodega, Bunny Slope and The Berkshire Room
- Learn the names and personally recognize our regulars, while actively developing your own
- Take beverage and snack orders from guests and servers, record in the POS system accurately and accept payment in a timely fashion
- Maintain cleanliness in all areas of the bar including counters, sinks, utensils, shelves and storage areas
Other Functions:
- Be available to fill in floor positions as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the bar
- Complying with health and food safety standards
- Operating the cash register, answering the phone, providing great customer service, and following Fifty/50 Restaurant Group policies & procedures
Physical Functions:
- Ability to stand/walk a minimum of 8 hours or as needed
- Must be able to exert well-paced and frequent mobility for periods of up to 8 hours or as needed
- Be able to lift up to 30 pounds frequently
- Will frequently reach, feel, bend, stoop, carry, finely manipulate and key in data
- Work in both warm and cool environments
- High levels of noise from music, guests and employee traffic
- Must be able to tolerate potential allergens: peanut products, egg, dairy, gluten, soy, seafood and shellfish
Qualifications, Education and Behavior
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Ability to work quickly and assess situations
- Personally adhere to and guarantee staff adheres to safety and health standards of the industry
- Active social media presence
- Ability to work evening hours, weekends and holidays
- Ability to work at least 50 hours a week
