Bartender/Server
Ireland’s Four Courts, a busy neighborhood pub the Washington Post calls "an embassy for soccer in the DMV" is searching for a bartender to join our team on a 4-5 shift per week full time schedule. We are a high volume, full-service bar and restaurant; at least two years’ experience working in a similar environment is requisite to keep up with the demands of the business. Our team is quite tenured and staff retention is something we are very proud of: we are hoping to find someone who can commit to our standards and bring a positive attitude for the long term. This is a relatively unprecedented opening for us: if qualified, this hire will work St. Patrick's Day weekend and come into the restaurant at our most exciting time of the year. The ideal candidate not only pours a proper pint, but engages with our guests and many regulars in a familiar, polite and professional manner.
Responsibilities include:
- Knowledge and execution of classic cocktails, familiarity with popular draught/package beer, and experience with all spirit types and modern cocktails
- Preparing the bar for service, maintaining a stocked bar through service, breaking down each night and continuously adhering to standards of efficiency and cleanliness
- Proficiency with the point-of-sale system (we use Toast), understanding of and adherence to the bar’s comp policies
- Bartending in a quick and purposeful manner: we serve far too many guests to waste time with inefficiency
- Working harmoniously with fellow bartenders – we have a large bar and you will almost always have a partner, or two, with whom you must work collaboratively
- Cultivating relationships with our regulars and establishing new regulars of your own; we have a diverse and loyal customer base; we expect each guest to be treated with respect and we expect returning guests to be remembered and shown appreciation for their patronage
Compensation is tips pooled with one fellow bartender, paid nightly. Opportunities for bartending special events and holidays. Free shift meals and shift drinks.
Compensation Details
Compensation: Hourly (Based on Experience) plus tips
Estimated Weekly Tips: $1,500
