About Us: We are a casual taqueria in the Bywater focused on authenticity. Our commitment to quality includes grinding our own corn for tortillas and ensuring every dish reflects the rich flavors of traditional Mexican cuisine.

Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Chef to join our team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about authentic Mexican food, skilled in staff development, and efficient in managing kitchen operations. As our Chef, you will be responsible for creating specials, managing food costs, and ensuring that our recipes are followed to maintain the high standards our customers expect. Our restaurant serves an average of 100 guests on slow evenings and up to 200 guests on busier nights.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and train kitchen staff to ensure a high level of performance and morale.
  • Manage kitchen efficiency and maintain a safe, clean & organized workspace.
  • Control food costs and reduce waste while maintaining quality.
  • Create and implement specials that align with our authentic Mexican cuisine.
  • Ensure all recipes are followed accurately to maintain consistency and quality.
  • Oversee kitchen operations during shifts

Qualifications:

  • Culinary degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a similar role, with at least 1 year of experience managing a team.
  • Preferably bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to manage a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Passion for authentic Mexican cuisine and attention to detail.
