Overview
The Porter represents the restaurant with the highest levels of sanitation and cleanliness. The Porter must interact with the employees and management in a professional and collaborative manner and work closely with the Front and Back of House teams.
What You’ll Do
- Collaborate as a team player across both the front and back of the house of KABIN.
- Maintains cleanliness and appearance of the dish area at all times.
- Keeps all chemicals full during service so machines are cleaning properly and informs supervisors if quantities are low.
- Cleans and sanitizes all areas and surfaces of the restaurant, including the exterior, before and after service.
- Cleans, sanitizes and polishes dirty glassware, flatware, plateware, and kitchenware before, during, and after service.
- Cleans and sanitizes all restaurant equipment, such as ice machines, refrigerators, water machines, stoves, ovens, fryers, and dishwashers.
- Polishes glassware and stores it safely.
- Removes and breaks down boxes from the receiving area.
- Sorts and disposes of trash (compost, recycling, and garbage).
- Supports additional projects as needed.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- 1 year porter or service experience in an NYC high-volume restaurant preferred
- Knowledge of standard restaurant service procedures, including wine service
- Knowledge of each job function on the floor and understanding of the priorities of service
- Must be punctual and reliable
- Must be available to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to speak multiple languages, including English and Spanish, is a bonus
Health & Safety
- NYC Food Handler’s Certification suggested
- Adhere to the highest standards of food safety, food handling, sanitation, workplace safety, and hygiene requirements according to the New York City Department of Health standards to ensure the health and safety of team members and guests
- Adhere to COVID-19 sanitation protocols issued by the Center for Disease Control
- Adhere to time and temperature protocols
Work Environment
- Involves standing and walking the entire shift
- Involves holding objects with hands
- Involves reaching, bending, and stooping frequently
- Involves lifting, moving, and carrying at least 50 pounds with frequency throughout the shift
