About One White Street
One White Street is a restaurant in downtown New York City from Chef Austin Johnson. Located in a historic Tribeca townhouse, One White Street is a place to feel at home.
The Opportunity
The Pastry Sous Chef plays an integral part of the restaurant - they plan, prep, set-up and provide quality service in all areas of food production for menu items and specials in the designated outlets within departmental quality standards, recipes and plating guide specifications, all while upholding One White Street's culture. The Pastry Sous Chef will work closely to support the Pastry Chef in preparing ingredients, stocking, training and organizing, recipe development and executing service.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of food service and storage facilities.
- Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment; use equipment and tools only as intended, properly and safely
- Set up workstation with required mise en place, tools, equipment and supplies according to standards
- Check production schedule and pars and establish priority items for the day
- Prepare all menu items following recipes and yield guides, according to department standards in a time efficient manner
- Restock items that were depleted during the shift
- Communicate with Front of House to manage timing of courses, any guest feedback, etc.
- Update knowledge and skills by participating in staff training opportunities
- Be a team player—support and assist your fellow team members whenever possible
- Ensure company policies, procedures and brand standards are always followed.
- Follow Health & Safety and Food Safety standards.
- Complete other duties as assigned by management

Requirements:
- 2+ years of Pastry experience in a restaurant
- Food Handler’s permit (within 30 days upon hiring)
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50+ pounds
- Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays, and variable schedule per the needs of the business
