The Popal Group is a growing family-driven boutique hospitality group setting the standard for DC dining through ambitious restaurant concepts. We are also committed to delivering an exceptional dining experience for our guests. We are currently seeking an experienced General Manager to lead our beloved modern Afghan restaurant, Lapis. At Lapis, we serve homestyle dishes cooked with local, seasonal ingredients. We capture our legacy through a variety of family recipes passed down from generations. We are looking for a General Manager who will lead this restaurant with deep care and attention.
Responsibilities:
Staff Management:
- Lead, train, and manage a team of supervisors, servers, kitchen staff, and support personnel to ensure high performance and a positive work culture.
- Develop and execute training programs to ensure all staff meet service standards and are knowledgeable about the menu, wine list, and other restaurant offerings.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and identify opportunities for professional development.
- Foster an environment of teamwork, accountability, and motivation.
- Monitor and control labor costs
- Ensure personnel issues are addressed in accordance with established company policies and procedures
Service and Sales Management:
- Maintain guest satisfaction by monitoring, evaluating, and auditing food, beverage, and service offerings, initiating improvements and building relationships with patrons
- Ensuring staff consistently delivers excellent service, hospitality, and anticipates needs of guests.
- Review and approve the planning, implementation and success of service
- Ensure a safe working and guest environment to reduce the risk of injury and accidents. Complete accident reports promptly in the event that a guest or employee is injured
Operations Management:
- Ensuring completion of various daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly reports in a timely and accurate manner.
- Supporting marketing and corporate social responsibility efforts and offering input and suggestions.
- Oversee daily restaurant operations, ensuring smooth and efficient functioning across all departments (front-of-house, kitchen, bar).
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation regulations and maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for staff and guests.
- Optimize workflow and staffing levels to improve operational efficiency and service quality.
- Foster a warm, welcoming, and elegant atmosphere for all guests, consistently exceeding expectations by monitoring service standards and addressing guest concerns or complaints promptly and professionally.
- Implement strategies to increase customer satisfaction, loyalty, and positive reviews.
- Monitor dining room atmosphere and ambiance to ensure guests feel comfortable and welcome
- Lead by example in delivering world-class service to guests, ensuring a memorable dining experience.
- Address guest concerns and special requests with discretion and care, providing personalized solutions.
- Foster a warm, welcoming, and elegant atmosphere for all guests, consistently exceeding expectations.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal regulations, including labor laws, food safety standards, and liquor licensing.
- Address and resolve any operational issues or emergencies quickly, ensuring minimal disruption to business.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Must have excellent verbal communication skills and have the ability to work a flexible schedule
- Technological proficiency including MS Suite, especially MS Word and Excel, MarginEdge, and Toast
- Proficient Conflict Resolution
- Passion for providing an exceptional customer service experience
- Proficient in event management/organization
- Experience in a high-volume and fast-paced environment
- Knowledgeable in food/beverage pairing
- Food preparation knowledge
- Weekend and evening availability
- ServSafe certification preferred
Required Years of Experience
The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in the role.
Salary- $75,00-$90,000 Depending on Experience
Compensation Details
Compensation: Salary ($80,000.00 - $90,000.00)
