The first steak omakase in Chicago by Chef Sangtae Park, co-founder and Executive Chef of Michelin-1-star restaraunt, Omakase Yume. At Bonyeon, we take pride in offering an extraordinary dining experience centered around the finest cuts of beef. We are commited to providing our guests with exceptional service, taking them on a culinary journey that showcases the flavors and nuances of premium beef from around the world.

We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Assistant Sommelier to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a deep appreciation for fine wines and sakes, a keen palate, and a genuine enthusiasm for enhancing our guests' dining experiences. As an Assistant Sommelier, you will work closely with our Head Sommelier to manage our beverage program, provide expert recommendations, and contribute to the overall ambiance of our restaurant.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Head Sommelier in curating and maintaining an exceptional wine and sake list.
  • Provide knowledgable and personalized beverage recommendations to guests.
  • Direct and engage in wine service during restaurant service hours.
  • Participate in regular wine and sake tastings to stay informed about industry trends and product offerings.
  • Maintain and organize wine cellar, ensuring proper storage conditions and inventory management.
  • Assist in educating and training staff on wine and sake offerings.
  • Assist with managing beverage orders, receiving shipments, and maintaining relationships with distributors.
  • Ensure the beverage service area is clean, organized, and compliant with health and safety regulations.

Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in a sommelier or wine-related role, preferably in a high-end dining establishment.
  • Strong knowledge of wines, sakes, and beverage pairings.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and educate guests.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering exceptional service.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Certification from a recognized wine or sommelier program is a plus.
  • Be able to stand and walk for long periods of time throughout the day.
  • Be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
