Major Food Group is hiring a Kitchen Manager to join our team at Torrisi!
Major Food Group is coming back full circle to Mulberry St. with the opening of Torrisi, just a few blocks from the original Torrisi Italian Specialties where it all began. Located in the historic Puck Building, Torrisi, a love letter to Little Italy, proudly presents an Italian-American restaurant with an extensive wine program, a New York-Italian cocktail bar and a luxe deli. Chef Rich Torrisi presides over an open kitchen and presents showstopping dishes, with many prepared or finished tableside to engender warm and welcoming hospitality.
Responsibilities:
- Completes the daily storeroom operations, adhering to established storage, receiving, stock rotation, requisition, sanitation and security procedures
- Receive and inspect items for consistency and quality
- Maintain accurate inventory system by cross referencing items order vs. items received and accurately entering purchase order in craftable system
- Communicate with suppliers/vendors on short shipments and goods not received in proper order and arrange for credit notes.
- Notify management team of any receiving related discrepancies, to facilitate request for credit or replacement or damaged or discrepant goods
- Conduct weekly inventory of finished goods and raw material Store products to assigned storerooms and provide organized storage of all items for future use.
- Transport materials to appropriate storage areas in a timely manner, ensuring organized storage of all items for future use.
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organization throughout all storage areas including the fridges, freezer and dry storage areas.
- Complying with all local Department of Health Regulations in regards to Food Handling and Storage
- Facilities Management and Upkeep
- Management of receiving and porter team, creating systems to make these teams more efficient
- Ensuring proper FIFO/DOH Protocol throughout kitchen spaces
- Food product invoice uploading and approving
- Payroll for BOH team
- Perform other duties as assigned by Senior Leadership team
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a managing capacity and 4 years or more in a quality-driven, high volume kitchen
- Basic computer competency a must, preferable experience using google suite
- Experience with Foodager or other inventory programs a plus
- Must be able to bend and lift more than 40 pounds
- Team-orientated and positive attitude
- Strong communication skills a must
- Food Handlers and ServerSafe Certificate is a plus
