The Noble 33 Hospitality and lifestyle company is seeking a Sommelier for Meduza Mediterrania NEW YORK CITY ! We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Sommelier to join our team at our exciting high-energy lifestyle restaurant concept. As our sommelier, you will be responsible for curating a unique and extensive wine list that pairs perfectly with our delicious cuisine and appeals to our diverse clientele. The ideal candidate will have a passion for wine and a deep understanding of various grape varietals, regions, and production methods. You should have excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with guests, offering expert recommendations and enhancing their dining experience.

Duties and Functions:

  • Develop and maintain an extensive wine list that complements our cuisine
  • Conduct regular tastings and stay up-to-date on industry trends
  • Work with our culinary team to ensure wine pairings enhance the flavor profiles of our dishes
  • Train and educate staff on wine selections and service techniques
  • Maintain high visibility in dining room to receive guests and to ensure prompt, efficient, and knowledgeable service
  • Ensure proper storage, inventory management, and ordering of wine and related accessories 
  • Make sure that all closing side work has been completed.
  • Closing duties, including: recording staff tips and hours, reconciling cash, writing service recap, checking service team closing duties and performing a final walkthrough of the restaurant.
  • Motivating and leading staff to perform at the highest possible level through positive reinforcement
  • Participate in ongoing staff training and development, collaborating with the rest of the management team to identify and address opportunities for feedback and coaching among the FOH staff
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned 

Specific Job Knowledge & Skills:
  • At least 3 years of experience as a Sommelier in a high-end restaurant or hospitality environment
  • Extensive knowledge of various grape varietals, regions, and production methods
  • Ability to communicate and work in English. Additional languages are beneficial.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-energy environment 
Physical Abilities:
  • Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting,pulling, and stooping
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time 
  • Professional appearance, care and grooming
  • Required to be able to lift or move up to 50 pounds without assistance

Compensation Details

Compensation: Hourly ($18.00 - $26.00) plus tips
