Celestine is a seasonally-focused Mediterranean restaurant on the Dumbo Waterfront. We offer thoughtful and elegant food with warm, unpretentious hospitality under the direction of Chef Angelica Ampil (Upland). We are looking for a motivated server to become a part of our front of house team.
We’re seeking talented staff with a minimum of 2 years NYC casual fine dining experience to join our successful and driven front of house team and help us foster a positive dining experience for our guests. We hope to find candidates with the empathy, talent, passion, and the focus necessary to execute at the highest level while still offering relaxed, upscale service in a beautiful environment.

General Duties and Responsibilities
- Taking orders and answering guests’ questions; being able to speak confidently and knowledgeably about our menu and the restaurant writ large
- Communicating dietary requirements or restrictions to GM and kitchen
- Communicating any issues with guests or particular tables to GM
- Responsibly handling cash and credit card transactions
- Setting and bussing tables; maintaining a clean, organized section and dining room at all times
- Checking IDs for those who appear to be under 30 who are ordering alcoholic drinks
- Maintaining a visibly calm demeanor and excellence of work at all times regardless of the pace of service
- Door duties as needed, which include hosting, maintaining the waitlist, and answering the phone
- Opening and closing side work as assigned by GM
- Deep cleaning or organization with kitchen team as directed by Executive Chef and GM
- Learn and follow all Department of Health (DOH) guidelines

- Adhere to the schedule created by the GM; arrive on time and with a neat, clean appearance
- Be organized; take notes
- Be engaged in continuing staff education around food and beverages
- Be courteous, professional, and kind to guests and employees alike
- Be a proactive self-starter with a keen eye for details and ability to multitask
- Be open to feedback and notes for improvement
- Communicate responsibly and maturely; be open about any issues that may arise (internally or with guests) so that we can fix any problems that arise early on
