About Us
Named after the formerly functioning National Weather Service’s Doppler radar that sits atop the 70th floor of Rockefeller Center, The Weather Room offers distinctly New York food and beverages in the clouds.
All ingredients and prepared foods are sourced from fine purveyors across Rockefeller Center’s campus and throughout the five boroughs. Guests can enjoy espresso drinks, baked goods, counter sandwiches, and snacks while taking in the iconic view of Top of The Rock.
Position Summary
The Counter Team is responsible for ensuring successful, quality guest service on a day-to-day basis. Counter Team members will be cross-trained and ultimately expected to work as a counter server, bartender, barista and/or cashier at different times throughout their shift. This is a great opportunity to learn new skills in a busy environment!
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Set up the counter and prepare it for service.
- Engage in direct customer service to ensure accurate, timely preparation of a food or beverage order.
- Facilitate guest purchases by issuing register transactions and processing payments by cash and credit card.
- Maintain cleanliness and food safety standards within the workspace at all times.
- Complete the breakdown and cleaning of the counter, including all service line equipment.
- Maintain a willing attitude to go above and beyond to please all our guests.
- Work well with co-workers in a way that builds effective team spirit.
- Provide accurate, friendly, and efficient customer service.
- Communicate restocking needs to BOH team members clearly and concisely.
- Inform supervisor on duty immediately of any DOH or OSHA/workplace safety violations.
- Support and assist fellow team members whenever possible.
- Completes other duties as assigned by management.
Work Experience & Education Requirements
- 1+ years’ experience in food service and/or customer service.
- Familiarity with POS systems preferred.
- NYC Food Handlers Certificate required within 30 days of hire.
Essential Functions
- Able to lift up to 25lbs.
- Fluent in both written and spoken English.
- Polished and professional personal presentation, inclusive of proper hygiene and grooming. requirements as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Able to work a variable schedule including some nights, weekends, and holidays per the needs of the business.
- Ability to walk, stand, carry, and bend for certain periods as required.
- Ability to travel by car and public transportation as needed.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations.
- Follow company policies and procedures.
