Bar Vinazo is Park Slope’s Spanish wine bar by Brooklyn restaurateurs Joe Campanale and Brooklyn-bred, Barcelona-born Executive Chef/Partner Silvia Garcia-Nevado. The menu offers an array of Spain’s best meats, cheeses and conservas alongside tapas and more substantial offerings informed by familial recipes. The wine list spotlights over 150 biodynamic, organic and natural selections drawing on the owner’s international relationships while the cocktail program features classic cocktails imparted with Spanish flair.
Bar Vinazo’s 30-seat interior is anchored by an expansive pine & terracotta bar, complete with a Cinco Jotas jamon carving station leading to a sprawling 40-seat outdoor patio paved with bluestone.
The ideal candidate must have at least 2+ years of kitchen experience and be passionate, goal-oriented and value-driven. He/she/they will work with the chef and BOH team to ensure that this elevated approach to food and hospitality is brought to life, while maintaining organizational and training responsibilities. This critical position will report directly to the Executive Chef.
Responsibilities include:
- Have the ability to work all stations in the restaurant and step in for the Chef when necessary
- Train cooks on all stations
- Oversee or assist with ordering
- Assist in menu development
- Assist with scheduling, inventory, managing food and labor costs
- Alert the Executive Chef of problems before they happen, assist in resolving problems
- Follow the Chefs’ directions to manage all aspects of the restaurant
- Lead the staff in following the standards for food handling according to the Executive Chefs specifications
- Act as the Executive Chef when she is unavailable
Requirements:
- Candidates should be highly organized, efficient, and be able to work precisely
- Demonstrate a passion for food
- Familiarity with dietary restrictions (i.e. gluten-free, vegan, food allergies, etc)
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or fellow employees
- DOH Food Handlers card
- 2+ years experience
