Assistant General Manager – Hospitality Operations
Role:
The Bronx Brewery is looking to hire an entrepreneurial and process-driven Assistant General Manager and Lead Bartender to help oversee Hospitality and Event Operations for its Bronx location. This position will be structured where most shifts are as Assistant General Manager and occasional Lead Bartender shifts as needed. The role has the intention of using beer, food, art and music to build community and foster a culture of excellence with an unrelenting focus on quality. The Assistant General Manager will support the General Manager with all aspects of operational management, event execution, and guest experience.
Location:
This role will be principally located in The Bronx though occasional meetings and other work will be done at the company’s East Village and Hudson Yards locations.
Job Responsibilities:
The Assistant General Manager will report to the General Manager of Hospitality Operations and will help to lead the front of house team, drive service each day, inspire team members to work together and hold the team accountable to the standards set. They will be the primary floor lead when the General Manager is not present and must therefore be adept at managing and facilitating any guest, partner or facility issues or circumstances as they come up. The Assistant General Manager will assist with both on- and off-site events as needed. This role will include administrative work, opening and closing duties, and stepping in as needed to fill any and all other operational roles as the business demands.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Overseeing all aspects of the guest experience, including venue readiness, service levels, food and beverage quality, etc.
- Overseeing execution of all events, including on- and off-site private events, brand events, programming, etc.
- Helping with the development and training of a high-performance team through active and constructive management, before, during and after service
- Understanding NYC Department of Health standards and using them as a guide to keep the taproom, patio, roadway seating area and kitchen/food-prep spaces compliant, clean and organized within specifications and to hold the team accountable to those standards on a daily basis.
- Managing the flow of service to ensure the highest levels of safety, cleanliness, quality, and speed, while simultaneously upholding The Bronx Brewery’s standards around culture and guest experience.
- Assisting with physical inventory management across the venue
- Assisting with beverage orders
What You Bring to the Table:
- 4+ years of hospitality experience
- 2+ years of leadership experience supervising a team strongly preferred
- NYCDOH Food Handlers License (or will need to be acquired within 45 days)
- TIPS Certification (or will need to be acquired within 30 days)
- Strong event management skills, proven track record of running venue-based events
- Excellent problem-solving and process-driven delegation skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, ideally in both English and Spanish
- Knowledge of Beer and Brewing Process
- Ability to accommodate a flexible schedule
- Ability to stand for long hours
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and multitask effectively
Compensation:
As a valued member of our team, your compensation will include the following elements:
- Hourly pay rate of $30 (Assistant General Manager shifts)
- Hourly pay rate of $15 + tips (Lead Bartender shifts)
- Paid Time Off: 5 days company-issued paid time off plus NYC Paid Sick Leave
