Job Opening: Prep Chef at Brooklyn High Low The Parlour
Location: Park Slope, Brooklyn
Start Date: December 1, 2024 (Paid training provided for 2-3 weeks before starting solo on December 22, 2024)
Compensation: $22/hour ( $18 training )

Brooklyn High Low The Parlour, an upscale tea room in the heart of Park Slope, Brooklyn, is seeking a dedicated Prep Chef to join our kitchen team. This role is ideal for a culinary professional who enjoys creating high-quality tea sandwiches, soups, and desserts for a curated tea service experience.

Responsibilities:
- Tea Sandwiches, Soup & Desserts:
- Prepare up to 400 artisanal tea sandwiches and dessert items for weekend service.
- Innovate seasonal spreads, soups, and dessert combinations that align with our high-end tea service.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen workspace.
- Oversee inventory, manage stock levels, and coordinate weekly orders with Owner.
- Team Collaboration, Work closely with the Porter and Plater to ensure smooth operations.
- Support the FOH team by ensuring timely and quality prep for service.
- Food Safety & Compliance, Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, including proper food handling and storage practices.
Requirements:
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
- Fluency in English and Spanish preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience in a restaurant, hotel, or catering kitchen.
- Possession of or willingness to obtain a New York Food Handler’s License.
- Availability for: Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday (9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.).
- Morning shifts on Saturday and Sunday (8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.).
- Strong communication skills, punctuality, and reliability. Team player.
Training & Start Date:
- Training: 2-3 weeks of hands-on, paid training ( $18 an hr) starting December 1, 2024.
- Solo Start Date: December 22, 2024. ($22 a hr)
