OVERVIEW
We are seeking a Kitchen Porter to join our high-performing team at The Knickerbocker Hotel, a member of Leading Hotels of the World. You must be hard-working and strive for excellence in all areas of work. We are looking for someone that is both self-motivated and team orientated.
You will play a crucial role in producing food to our high standards by taking responsibility for preparing and cooking food in your designated area of the kitchen.
Your primary responsibilities will be:
Porter responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Keeping our restaurant and kitchen spaces as clean as possible - organizing and setting up the team for success.
- Maintaining organization and cleanliness standards of prep kitchen, walk-in coolers, dry storage room, etc.
- Work with The Knick’s culinary team to maintain appropriate food rotation (FIFO) to ensure maximum freshness of food items.
- Proactively clean, sanitize and organize workstation throughout the night, while observing DOH guidelines at all times.
- Polishing all silverware and glassware during service.
- Washing and limiting waste of containers.
- Dispose of all waste and recyclables as needed.
- Assists with deep cleaning schedule of facilities.
Qualified Porters must be energetic, enthusiastic, and have a great attitude, as well as:
- Strong attention to detail
- Self-motivated, organized, reliable and hardworking
- Commitment to excellence and working with a team
- Ability to follow instructions and remain calm under pressure
- Willingness to take direction from Chefs, embrace change and innovation, and to learn and adapt to new systems, service steps and health and cleaning procedures
- Broad and flexible availability to work
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. if necessary
- Safely and effectively use all necessary tools and equipment

Compensation Details
Compensation: Hourly ($18.00)
