We are seeking an Executive Chef The Mermaid Inn.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Leads kitchen team.
- Provides guidance to junior kitchen staff members, including food preparation, and dish plating.
- Oversees and organizes kitchen stock and ingredients.
- Ensures a first-in, first-out food rotation system and verifies all food products are properly dated and organized for quality assurance.
- Hires and trains new kitchen employees to restaurant and kitchen standards.
- Manages food and product ordering by keeping detailed records and minimizes waste. Works with existing systems to improve waste reduction and manage budgetary concerns.
- Supervises all food preparation and presentation to ensure quality and restaurant standards.
- Works to maintain kitchen organization, staff ability, and training opportunities.
- Verifies that food storage units all meet standards and are consistently well-managed
- Seasonal menu creation.
- Coordinates with restaurant management team on supply ordering, budget, and kitchen efficiency and staffing.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous Executive Chef and NYC experience.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail.
- Knowledge of restaurant regulations & NYC health department regulations.
- Leadership, management, positivity, ability to work under pressure.
- Self-motivated, creative problem solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- High Volume Experience.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as an Executive Chef or similar role in a fine dining establishment
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team
- In-depth knowledge of culinary arts, food service regulations, and kitchen management
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while upholding quality standards
- Degree in Culinary Arts or relevant field is preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Stamina to work in a fast-paced environment
- Manual dexterity to handle kitchen equipment and tools
Knowledge & Skills:
- Comprehensive understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures
- Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
- Creative skills for developing new and innovative recipes
- Effective management and training techniques for kitchen staff
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle high-pressure situations

Compensation Details
Compensation: Salary ($100,000.00 - $130,000.00)
