JOB SUMMARY:
Assistant General Manager oversees the daily operations of the restaurant, ensures the highest standards of service, quality, and guest satisfaction. You will work closely with the General Manager to lead and support the management team, drive financial performance, and maintain a positive and productive work environment.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Assist the General Manager in overseeing all aspects of restaurant operations
- Ensure exceptional guest service by maintaining high standards of hospitality, quality, and efficiency
- Lead, train, and develop the management team and staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth
- Monitor and manage financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control
- Oversee inventory management, ordering, and supply chain logistics to ensure efficient operations
- Implement and enforce health and safety regulations, ensuring a clean and safe environment for guests and staff
- Handle guest inquiries, complaints, and special requests in a professional and courteous manner
- Collaborate with the General Manager to develop and execute marketing and promotional initiatives
- Support the planning and execution of special events and private dining experiences
- Conduct regular staff meetings and training sessions to communicate goals, policies, and updates
- Maintain accurate records and reports related to sales, labor, and other key performance metrics
- Stay current with industry trends, market dynamics, and competitive landscape to identify opportunities for innovation and differentiation
- Represent the restaurant in the local community and industry events, building relationships with key stakeholders and driving brand awareness and reputation
- Follow Zuma's service standards and protocols, including uniform guidelines, grooming standards, and service etiquette
- Operate ethically to protect the image of the company
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or requested
JOB KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- 3+ years of progressive leadership experience in restaurant management, with a proven track record of success in high-volume, upscale dining environments
- Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team to achieve common goals
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate ideas, influence stakeholders, and build consensus
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a results-oriented mindset and a focus on continuous improvement
- Proficiency in restaurant management software, POS systems, and Microsoft Office suite
- Passion for hospitality and a commitment to delivering outstanding guest service
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to perform the essential job functions consistent safely and successfully with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs; Ability to stand for prolong periods of time and climb steps regularly
- Ability to physically maneuver through work areas; bend, lift, carry, reach/extend arms, and hands above shoulder height frequently, or otherwise move in a constantly changing environment
