OverviewThe Bartender represents KABIN with the highest levels of hospitality, professionalism, and sanitation safety. The Bartender must interact with guests, staff members, and management in a professional and collaborative manner to create an exemplary and safe bar and dining experience. The Bartender develops works service and makes and serves cocktails, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages to guests.
What You’ll Do
- Cultivate one of the most welcoming spaces in NYC—a place for locals and tourists alike to see and be seen, ensuring a fun time for all.
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of KABIN's food and beverage menu offerings, including ingredients, preparation techniques, and flavor profiles. Utilize expertise in the beverage program to offer personalized recommendations to guests based on their preferences.
- Prepare beverages according to KABIN's recipe specifications and quality standards.
- Efficiently manage guest orders and experiences, communicating special requests and dietary needs to the kitchen promptly and accurately.
- Proactively monitor guest feedback and address any concerns or requests promptly to ensure a positive dining experience.
- Assist with service maintenance tasks, such as clearing and resetting tables, refilling water glasses, and maintaining cleanliness and organization in the dining area.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar station and front of house throughout service.
- Thoroughly set up and break down the bar for service, completing opening and closing side work accurately and efficiently.
- Work collaboratively with the Head Bartender and General Manager to update beverage programs and inventories as necessary.
- Handle guest payments responsibly and efficiently, processing various forms of payment with accuracy.
- Collaborate with team members to uphold restaurant standards and foster a positive work environment; promptly notify management of any potential issues that may arise.
- Provide assistance with various service needs throughout the restaurant, including support at the front door and in the dining room.
- Recognize and distinguish regular patrons and VIPs, communicating pertinent information to the team.
- Support additional front-of-house projects as needed.

- You are able to troubleshoot on your own or with the assistance of managers or other team members when necessary.
- You demonstrate appropriate workplace behavior and treat all employees with respect.
- You are comfortable and effective at taking direction from other staff and delegating tasks.
- You are a team player who can set your ego aside and find win-for-all solutions.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- 2-3 years of front-of-house bartending and/or service experience in an NYC high-volume restaurant
- Knowledge of KABIN’s food & beverage and hospitality philosophy & menus
- Knowledge of standard restaurant service procedures, including wine service
- Knowledge of each job function on the floor and understanding of the priorities of service
- Knowledge of “The Big 8” allergens
- Must be punctual and reliable
- Must be available to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to speak multiple languages, including English and Spanish, is a bonus
Health & Safety
- NYC Food Handler’s Certification suggested
- Adhere to the highest standards of food safety, food handling, sanitation, workplace safety, and hygiene requirements according to the New York City Department of Health standards to ensure the health and safety of team members and guests
- Adhere to COVID-19 sanitation protocols issued by the Center for Disease Control
- Adhere to time and temperature protocols
Work Environment
- Involves standing and walking the entire shift
- Involves holding objects with hands
- Involves reaching, bending, and stooping frequently
- Involves lifting, moving, and carrying at least 50 pounds with frequency throughout the shift
