Position Title: Host/Reservationist

Reports to: Service Director

Secondary report: Director of Operations

Effective Date : 7/5/2024

Salary Range: $23-27 plus tips

About Atelier Crenn

 

Dominique Crenn opened Atelier Crenn, an ode to “poetic culinaria,” with her business partner Juan Contreras in January 2011. The restaurant achieved its first Michelin Star that same year and garnered a second the following year. In 2018, Atelier Crenn became the first female-led, US restaurant to receive three Michelin Stars. Since then, Chef Crenn’s flagship restaurant has evolved, now telling the story of California through food, highlighting local fish, seafood, and produce from its own regenerative farm in Sonoma.  

 

Main Roles

 

The Reservationist is the first point of contact for guests and is responsible for setting the tone of luxury hospitality that guests will expect from their experience at Atelier Crenn and Bar Crenn. Reservationists are skilled in listening to guests' needs and translating that information into concise reports for the Front of House (FOH) and Back of House (BOH) teams. They are essential contributors to the guest experience and overall operations of the restaurant. 

 

Qualities required:

  • 1-2 years of fine dining restaurant experience

  • Experience in fine dining/hospitality service and skills

  • Extensive knowledge of Tock and any other guest-related programs or apps

  • Highly developed skills in G Suite

  • High functioning command of the English language, as well as basic knowledge of culinary terminology

  • Ability to provide polished and gracious service to guests

  • Be able to prioritize tasks in order to meet daily, weekly and monthly deadlines

  • Available to work a variety of hours, days and shifts, including weekends

  • Ability to stand and walk for an entire shift and move safely through all areas of the restaurant, which may include stairs, uneven or slick surfaces

  • Able to move and lift up to 10 pounds, frequently and/or lift up to 25 pounds, and occasionally move and/or lift up to 50 pounds

 

Responsibilities: 

RESERVATION MANAGEMENT

  • Answer every phone call with appropriate greeting from start to end of shift

  • Return all voicemail messages in the same day

  • Respond to all incoming emails within 72 hours

  • Ensure all guests questions are answered or concerns are resolved in a timely manner

  • Offer professional guest services by assisting in guest navigation through the reservation process

  • Educate guests and employees on restaurant concept and philosophy

  • Maintain and monitor the reservation book, making sure notes are added and reservations are confirmed

  • Reconfirm all dietary restrictions by 72 hours prior to the reservation

  • Assist guests with cancellations or reschedule requests

  • Provide daily reports to BOH team about dietary restrictions

  • Accommodate VIP reservations as requested by the Crenn Concierge and senior management

  • Help guests purchase and redeem gift cards

  • Print daily reports, chits, menus and prepare celebration cards for service nightly

  • Assist in researching guests before their arrival

  • Monitor office inventory and report to Office Manager when supplies are low

 
 
 
 

SERVICE

  • Always greet and welcome guests by name promptly in a warm and friendly manner

  • Establish rapport with guests to build guest loyalty and gather constructive feedback to ensure satisfaction of every individual guest

  • Knowledge of the menu and presentation standards

  • Check that tables are seated appropriately

  • Assist Somms and the management team on floor with water service, clearing, mise en place, resetting, running food, etc. 


Compensation Details

Compensation: Hourly ($23.00 - $27.00) plus tips

Atelier Crenn achieved its first Michelin Star within a year, in October of 2011. In the following year, Crenn made history again when Atelier Crenn received its second Michelin Star, becoming the first female chef in the US to receive this honor. In November 2018, Crenn beat her own record and became the first female chef in the US to receive three Michelin Stars.

Atelier Crenn celebrates California's rich bounty, highlighting plants, fish, and seafood from the region.
