Job Description:
As Kitchen Manager, you’ll be in charge of overseeing all aspects of the kitchen’s operations. You’ll ensure that our food quality, cleanliness, and safety standards are upheld, while leading and training a team of cooks and kitchen staff. You’ll also be responsible for managing inventory, ordering supplies, maintaining a budget, and ensuring that everything runs smoothly during service. Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise, train, and motivate kitchen staff, ensuring high standards of performance and efficiency.
- Oversee food preparation and ensure that all dishes are cooked and presented according to the restaurant’s specifications and quality standards.
- Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations (health codes, safety protocols).
- Manage inventory, including ordering and receiving supplies, and ensuring proper storage and stock rotation.
- Work closely with front-of-house management to ensure the kitchen runs smoothly during service, and that orders are prepared and delivered promptly.
- Maintain a clean, organized kitchen and ensure that all equipment is properly maintained and cleaned.
- Control food costs and maintain kitchen budget, minimizing waste and ensuring proper portioning.
- Develop and update kitchen systems to streamline operations and improve efficiency.
- Assist in menu planning and development, including seasonal or special menu items.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback for staff development.
- Handle employee issues, such as scheduling, conflict resolution, and discipline, in a professional and respectful manner.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a kitchen management or leadership role required (3+ years preferred).
- Strong knowledge of kitchen operations, food safety, and sanitation standards.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to manage and motivate a team, working in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
- Solid understanding of food costs, budgeting, and inventory control.
- Culinary degree or equivalent experience preferred, but not required.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
