The Tryst Trading Company food group is looking for an Assistant General Manager (AGM) to join and lead a team of amazing individuals who share a genuine passion for creating and serving great food and drinks, and who enjoy working in a place that promotes a culture of building meaningful connections with our guests and amongst our staff.
The Diner was opened in Adams Morgan in January 2001, operating 24/7 till the pandemic. Post-pandemic hours were reduced and our goal is to return to 24/7 asap. The management structure includes an AGM, Restaurant Managers (RM), Kitchen Manager (KM), and Managing Servers (MS), all reporting to the GM. The GM reports to the Director of Operations, and is supported by a central team, and four sister locations.

The AGM reports to the GM who determines assignments and defines the level at which the AGM will assist in the areas of operation listed below. The AGM duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Assist with directions and oversight of all daily restaurant operations;

Managing Guest expectations and relations;
-
Assist with managing a team of managers and staff;

Ensuring compliance with company standards and policies;
-
Ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulatory requirements;

Running floor shifts as the Manager on Duty (MOD) as needed;
-
Assist with evaluating staffing levels and scheduling;
-
Assist with recruiting and hiring;
-
Assist with special events;
-
Assist with manager and staff training;
-
Assist with staff performance evaluations;
-
Monitoring and addressing quality controls;
-
Assist with social media and marketing programs;
-
Assist with inventories and controls;
-
Assist with cash handling & financial controls;
-
Assist with troubleshooting facilities, maintenance, safety and equipment issues;

Performing administrative and reporting functions;
-
Assisting with bi-weekly timecard reviews for payroll;

Working with GM to improve store processes;
-
Working with GM to improve revenues and operating costs;

Perform GM assigned duties and projects.

Qualifications

6+ months Management Experience in a full-service restaurant or
-
1+ years Managerial Experience in a café-service restaurant;

Excellent oral and written communication skills;

Strong leadership qualities;

Excellent people management and listening skills;

Excellent time management and organizational skills;

Self-motivated and proactive by nature;

Excellent computer skills;
-
Proficiency in use of POS system (Knowledge of Toast and Restaurant365 a big plus);

Proficient in Spanish (written and oral) would be amazing, but not required;

Food Handler & ABRA license;
-
Must be available to work weekends, evenings, and some holidays;

Must be on call for emergencies;
