Position Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and motivated individual to join our kitchen team as a Porter/Dishwasher. The Porter/Dishwasher plays a crucial role in supporting kitchen operations by assisting with dishwashing, food prep, cleanliness, and organization. Key Responsibilities:
- Dishwashing:
- Wash and sanitize dishes, flatware, pots, and pans using hand-washing methods.
- Inspect dishes for cleanliness and ensure they meet sanitation standards before being stored.
- Food Preparation:
- Assist in preparing ingredients for cooking, including washing, peeling, and chopping vegetables, and portioning.
- Measure and assemble ingredients according to recipe specifications and portion sizes.
- Assist team with basic food preparation tasks as needed.
- Store Organization and Maintenance:
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, including washing dishes, pots, pans, and utensils.
- Clean and sanitize work surfaces, equipment, and storage areas in accordance with food safety standards.
- Empty trash and recycling bins regularly and ensure proper disposal of waste materials.
- Ensure the upkeep and maintenance of store exterior and interior, including windows, surrounding tile, and sidewalk area.
- Stock Management:
- Assist management in receiving, reviewing and storing deliveries of food and kitchen supplies.
- Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies and notify management of any shortages or discrepancies.
- Rotate stock according to FIFO (First In, First Out) and properly label and date all food items to ensure freshness and minimize waste.
- Assistance During Service:
- Support kitchen staff during peak service hours by replenishing ingredients, restocking supplies, and assisting with the creation of entrees.
- Coordinate with counter staff and cooks to ensure timely preparation and delivery of food orders.
- Handle special requests and dietary restrictions with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Adherence to Standards:
- Follow food safety and sanitation regulations at all times, including proper handling and storage of food products.
- Adhere to kitchen policies and procedures regarding cleanliness, safety, and hygiene.
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude while representing the kitchen team.
Qualifications/Experience:
- Previous experience in a kitchen or food service environment is preferred but not required.
- Experience with basic food preparation techniques and kitchen equipment is a plus.
- NYC Food Protection Certificate a plus or willingness to obtain within 90 days of employment

- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining cleanliness and organization.
- Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
Pay: From $18.00- 22.00 per hour based on experience
