Monk’s Café is seeking to add a motivated line cook. Please forward a copy of your resumé if you are a detail-oriented cook with several years of line cook experience or if you are a stellar culinary student. You will work alongside talented Chefs in a very busy environment, so you must be able to work efficiently under pressure. Monkʼs Café has been rated as an Excellent dining experience by the Philadelphia Inquirer’s restaurant reviewer. Craig Laban awarded Monk’s a “3 Bell” rating.
You must be able to work both quickly and accurately, but more importantly, you must have a helpful demeanor. We are all here to make our guests’ visit a wonderful experience. No attitude, no tantrums, no FOH vs. BOH bullshit & no Prima Donnas. Most of our coworkers have been working here for over 10 years. Now we need to add a cook to our family. If you’re up for a challenge, this could be the home for you.
REQUIREMENTS:
A minimum of 2 years line experience at a busy restaurant.
Culinary training is a plus.
Possess a true passion for the art of food
Work well under pressure and keep a helpful attitude
You must be able to keep your station clean at all times.
Must have a Philadelphia Serve Safe Certificate.
Please attach a Microsoft Word or PDF resumé for review. Please include your resume in the body of your response in addition to the attachment. We will follow up on your references and then contact qualified applicants to set up interviews.
This is a full-time, five-shift, work-week. We will propose a mutually agreeable schedule for a student apprentice. We serve our full menu from 11:30 AM until 11 PM every night (Closed Thanksgiving, December 24th, December 25th & whenever our Eagles are in the Super Bowl). We will provide you with a set schedule so you can have a life outside of work, but we may occasionally need you to cover an additional shift. Our kitchen closes at 11 PM & you are expected to help clean every surface, every shift. Think about your transportation home – can you catch a train, a bus or a Taxi/Lyft/Uber home at 11:30pm-Midnight?
Non-smoker preferred. This is a professional kitchen – not a party kitchen. We are looking for a self-starter who can motivate his/her coworkers. Are you up to the challenge? If so, please submit your resumé to [email protected].
