Job Details
Nettie's is looking for a Head Chef to oversee our kitchen!  Our current team consists of 3 line cooks (including a Sous Chef), a Kitchen Manager/ head of prep, 2 part-time prep cooks, and 2 dishwashers.  We feed anywhere from 100 - 200 covers per day, depending on the day of the week and the season.  

We like to think of our menu as "elevated nastolgia" - food that reminds you of what you grew up eating in your Italian-American home, but prepared on an elevated, professional level. Everything at Nettie's is made from scratch - we don't take any shortcuts!  Fresh pasta, sausage, meatballs, cheese, pickles, etc. are made in-house daily.  We believe that a smaller menu made with integrity is superior to a huge menu with mediocre food.  

Your responsibilities as Chef would include the following: 
  • Expedite the line during service, 5 nights / week 
  • Oversee and inspire our kitchen team
  • Food quality control
  • Food safety / be aware of all ingredients for guest allergies
  • Create specials to run on a regular basis and describe to FOH team
  • Hire. train, and fire BOH staff
  • Schedule BOH using 7Shifts
  • Order product / oversee ordering
  • Monthly inventory
  • Control food cost
  • Ensure that kitchen is kept clean and maintained at all times

Compensation Details

Compensation: Salary ($75,000.00 - $100,000.00)

Nettie's is a family-owned business, owned by husband and wife team Chris & Tania Calabrese. We each have 20+ years of experience in the restaurant industry, from NJ to NYC, and hospitality is our passion.
We opened our doors in November of 2018 in a location that's very off the beaten path. We took a chance because it just felt right - we were taking over an old-school Italian restaurant that had been owned and operated by one family for 60 years. It had that red sauce joint feel to it, and also had a liquor license and a parking lot (something rare in cities and downtown areas). Over the last 4+years we have built a following of wonderful regulars, and we still welcome new guests every day.
