Job Details

Bad Cholesterol is a sourdough pizzeria in Downtown Brooklyn. You may have ordered our pizzas at TALEA Beer Co. Cobble Hill or Kings County Distillery.

We are hiring a daytime Prep Cook. As a Prep Cook, you will work closely with our Chef de Cuisine and learn how to:

  • Create and maintain sourdough starters and pizza dough;
  • Prep for service, including how to make sauces and creative toppings;
  • Conduct inventory; 
  • Maintain kitchen hygiene and cleanliness.

We welcome applicants with all levels of experience and from all backgrounds, but are particularly interested in college or culinary school students.

Applicants must demonstrate: 

  • An eye for detail;
  • A get-the-job-done attitude; 
  • A calm and generous demeanor;
  • The ability to work in a team, to deadline, and under pressure; and
  • A knack for anticipating the needs of your manager and your team.

Applicants must also be able to: 

  • Stand for long periods of time (e.g., 8 hour shifts); 
  • Occasionally lift objects 50 lbs and under; and
  • Hold a valid Food Protection Certificate from the N.Y.C. Department of Health & Mental Hygiene. (Servsafe, or other non-Department of Health food safety courses, are insufficient.)

The Prep Cook is a part-time position based in Downtown Brooklyn. 

You must work Mondays and Tuesdays during the day. If you are not available on Mondays or Tuesdays, please do not apply. We anticipate you will work 16-20 hours per week, subject to business needs.
