Position Summary:

Compline Restaurant is hiring a working Restaurant Manager. Work with veteran sommeliers and restaurateurs Matt Stamp and Ryan Stetins and help to run a small front-of-house team in nightly service. Become a leader in one of downtown Napa's top restaurants. 

Compline's award-winning wine program has achieved a "Best of Award of Excellence" from Wine Spectator and three stars with a Jury Prize from World of Fine Wine Awards. We have been named one of the "Top 100" wine restaurants in America by Wine Enthusiast. In the last year, our restaurant menu achieved accolades from the San Francisco Chronicle, the New York Times, and other major media sources. 

 

The Compline Restaurant Manager will:

  • Lead and support the Front of House team in nightly service
  • Devlope the team's talent for hospitality and salesmanship in wine and food
  • Ensure proper daily cash accounting and tip-out procedures
  • Maintain profitability while achieving or surpass financial goals
  • Understand the award-winning Compline Wine Program
  • Create and deliver staff training on all aspects of food and beverage
  • Take daily opportunities to educate the service staff
  • Keep POS and online systems up to date and regularly communicate changes to staff
  • Ensure that all weekly and monthly inventories, receiving, and invoice procedures are completed in a timely fashion and according to company policy
  • Directly manage service, bar, and sommelier staff
  • Act as a leader for the service team and foster collaboration with the kitchen staff
  • Promote the culture of Compline in and outside of the business

What we expect from you:

  • Restaurant service and wine experience required
  • WSET level 3, CMS certified or similar preferred
  • California RBS certification required within 30 days of hire
  • Familiarity with Apple/iPad functionality, Microsoft Office products
  • Prior experience with OpenTable and Toast preferred
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must be available to work weekends and some holidays
  • Ability to work a flexible evening schedule
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written
  • High attention to detail
  • Willingness to learn and ask for help when needed

Compensation Details

Compensation: Salary ($80,000.00 - $105,000.00)

Partners Ryan Stetins and Matt Stamp are on the floor daily, forging personal connections with each of our guests. The bar at Compline, while energetic and vibrant, remains an expression of Napa wine country—it’s relaxed and convivial, with a smart crowd and plenty of flowing wine. Chef Jammir Gray joined the team in 2020, joining her love of highly seasonal cooking and Mediterranean flavors with a rich wine country bounty of local products and purveyors.

In 2022, Compline Wine Shop opened three doors down from the restaurant, giving downtown Napa a cellar-temperature, 800-selection retail shop and tasting bar offering daily wine flights from near and far.
