SoHo’s iconic La Esquina is seeking a qualified sever for the Cantina, Brasserie and Taqueria. La Esquina Taqueria serves delicious and authentic Mexican street food, inspired by the hyperkinetic energy and urban sophistication of Mexico City.
This is the flagship location which hosts the famous subterranean Brasserie. The iconic space is known for its dark lighting, DJ driven music vibe and celebrity hangout. At the ground level there is a full service café, serving a similar but smaller menu than its sister’s restaurant downstairs. There is also a La Esquina Taqueria attached that shares the same menu as the Taqueria’s at the other locations.
Qualified candidates should meet the following criteria:
- 2 years of New York City restaurant experience
- Strong general knowledge of food and food preparation (experience with Mexican cuisine preferred)
- Flexible schedule (nights, weekends, holidays, etc.)
- Ability to stand/walk for long periods of time
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
- Familiar with at least one POS (Toast preferred)
- Knowledge and understanding of DOH procedures
- Able to take direction well from both restaurant managers and the Chef
- Strong communication skills and solid team work
- Interest in the NYC dining scene and the world at large, whether that be art, dance, fashion or books. Bring your creative energy!
Job Duties Include:
- Provide friendly, responsive service to create an exceptional dining experience for all of our guests.
- Prepare items needed for the day in the beginning/during and at the end of each shift.
- Maintain clean service areas.
- Monitor and observe guests dining experience.
- Respond promptly and courteously to any requests.
- Be ready and willing to assist fellow co-workers as situations arise.
- Willing to assist with clearing and resetting tables.
- Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the restaurant manager.
