Vinegar Hill House is seeking experienced freelance cooks for private events. The restaurant hosts medium- to large-sized private dinners and cocktails parties five to fifteen days a month in the private event space, so this position has a highly irregular schedule. We're looking to build up our roster of cooks. Scheduling will generally be two to three weeks in advance. The ideal candidate is someone with a flexible schedule who has good availability but is not in need of a set schedule.
Duties include prepping the events space kitchen, setting mise, prepping dishes in advance of guests arrival, executing a family-style prix fixe menu in a timely fashion with exceptional quality, dessert plating, breaking down stations, and cleaning the events space kitchen. Candidate must be able to lift at least 30 pounds and be able to use stairs. Event cooks report to Executive Chef/Sous Chefs, and the Events Director.
