Cana - Caiprinha Bar is a Brazilian restaurant & bar, a part of the Unordinary Hospitality Group, located in the Adams Morgan neighbourhood of Washignton DC. Our menu pays homage to Brazil, blending traditional flavors with influences from historical migrations and contemporary culinary trends.

At Cana, we believe in teamwork across all departments, including Culinary and Hospitality, to achieve our main goal: providing genuine hospitality and ensuring our guests are always satisfied. As a team member, you will regularly interact with colleagues from both departments, requiring effective and respectful communication with your coworkers and managers. Job Description
The Server role at Cana is distinctive, as it represents the sole service position on the floor aside from Bartenders. Our Servers function as a cohesive team to manage all table maintenance, with occasional support from food runners when appropriate. This dynamic requires Servers to possess an inherent drive for excellence and strong teamwork skills.

This role combines advanced food and beverage service with engaging menu presentations for our guests. Success in this role depends on strong skills, careful attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Familiarize yourself with our menu, including current specials and South American cuisine in general. We'll provide all the information you need
  • Participate in peer-led food & beverage training to learn about cocktails, beer, wine, and coffee.
  • Be active on the floor, assisting with tasks like clearing and setting tables if needed
  • Collaborate with co workers to enhance the guest experience by helping with all aspects of service.
  • Manage your assigning server sections, ensuring every guest receives top-notch service.
  • Guide, mentor, and motivate your fellow service team members.
  • Keep your work area clean and organized, following sanitation and hygiene guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of food, wine, cocktails, and other beverages.
  • Familiarity with classic cocktails & wine.
  • Previous experience in a highly-rated restaurant is preferred.
  • Attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in presentation.
  • Strong organizational skills for multitasking.
  • Effective communication skills,Teamwork, humility, and collaboration.
  • Positive attitude with a problem-solving approach.
  • Self-motivated and self-aware.
  • Comfortable working in a busy environment.
  • Initiative and a sense of urgency.

Our cocktail menu highlights the essence of Brazil, featuring seasonal Caipirinhas with flavors like passion fruit or tangerine. For a playful twist, our “Not Caipirinha” creations explore bold Brazilian ingredients such as Amburana cachaça’s spiced warmth or tamarindo’s tangy sweetness, blending tradition with innovation.

The music at Cana transports you with curated 60s, 70s, and 80s vinyl records handpicked from Rio’s flea markets. Featuring legends like Tim Maia, Jorge Ben Jor, Marcos Valle, and Bezerra da Silva, along with modern sultry tracks from Seu Jorge, the playlist feels cinematic and timeless.

Cana’s design reflects the golden age of mid-century Brazilian aesthetics, inspired by the works of Oscar Niemeyer, Lina Bo Bardi, and Jorge Zalszupin. Warm amber lighting, Tauri oak panels, and hand-stenciled tiles from São Paulo come together to create an authentic homage to Brazil’s golden era.
