Our portfolio includes acclaimed Brooklyn restaurants Rucola, June, Rhodora, and Anais, along with Clara on the Upper West Side. As lead line cook, the individual will have the opportunity to work directly under Executive Chef Dayton Deetz. Chef Dayton worked on the openings of Crownshy, One White St, Cloverhill and The Noortwyck prior to joining at Clara. 

Position: Lead Line Cook

Location: Clara, located inside the New-York Historical Society building across from Central Park.


  • Work closely with the Executive Chef to uphold the standards of upscale classic New York dining.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in navigating and managing purchasing, inventory, and cost control.
  • Lead by example on the line during service, ensuring quality and consistency in every dish.
  • Oversee daily kitchen operations, inventory, and Department of Health preparedness.
  • Develop and mentor the BOH team, fostering a culture of excellence and professionalism.
  • Help keep food waste down to a minimum. 


  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a lead line cook or similar role, preferably in a fine dining establishment.
  • Strong knowledge of kitchen operations, including food preparation, inventory management, and guest service.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to problem-solve and make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • 20-25/ hr based on experience
