The Assistant General Manager is responsible for supporting the General Manager with all restaurant operations, to meet performance and profit goals.
The expectation of the Assistant General Manager
- Drive sales and revenue in a food service/activity-based environment utilizing superior floor management and interaction with the team, with particular emphasis on the beverage program.
- Managing and monitoring dining room staff on the floor and ensuring an exceptional guest
- Work with the General Manager, dining room managers, and line employees to educate and assist them in carrying out their responsibilities related to the restaurant’s food and beverage programs.
- Conducts regular performance management reviews with employees and holds team accountable for
- Monitors and manages guest complaints, ensure satisfaction, and administers efficient follow up for same to receive feedback.
- Learn and execute back-office roles including cash management and perform all necessary duties when the General Manager is not present.
- Create effective work schedules and monitor labor usage for the location while complying with State and Federal labor regulations
- Ensure consistent execution of events as scheduled, monitoring guest satisfaction and food presentation and staff interaction
- Maintain proper sanitation, support hygiene standards in the kitchen, and maintain effective restaurant presentation.
- Must quickly comprehend the complex relationships of walk-in traffic, and corporate events; modulate expectations and ensure a positive experience for all.

- Able to work nights, weekends and holidays, and variable schedule, per the needs of the business
- Ability to walk, stand, and/or bend continuously and for extended periods as required to perform essential job functions
- Ability to perform essential job functions under pressure maintains professionalism when working under stress
- Maintains general knowledge of location, transportation, management team,
- Ability to utilize traditional software programs such as Gmail, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint), and any additional systems as needed; Ability to access and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system.
- Ability to proficiently use Toast, Resy, Restaurant 365, Paylocity, Meez, Zuul and Air Table
- Participates in community events and ensures corporate social responsibility goals of Loring Place are met
- Ensures that all staff are compliant with the Company’s policies and procedures, as well as city, state, and federal laws
- Attends and/or organizes mandatory meetings including staff meetings, leadership meetings,
- Maintains knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, benchmarking state-of-the-art practices, and participating in professional societies
- Unpacks, stocks, & organizes all items in and around the restaurant to maintain the highest level of cleanliness possible throughout restaurant pre-opening & After
- Performs all other related and compatible duties as assigned by the General Manager
- Adheres to all HR policies and procedures
Learning Requirement
- We require you to hold the Food Protection certification from NYC DOH, if you are already certified please bring in your certification for our records. If not, we ask that you enroll and take this course in the first 30 days of employment.
