Job Details

Rising Hope Mission Church (United Methodist) is a safe place where you can gain spiritual and physical sustenance. We have several worship opportunities available and offer assistance through our Food Market, Rising Hope Kitchen, Hope Closet, Hypothermia Shelter, and countless other need-based services. 

The Food Market Associate reports to the Food and Nutrition Manager.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a culture that exemplifies Rising Hope’s core tenants of creating a loving and inclusive environment for all persons.
  • Exemplify the standards necessary to lead within a faith community environment.
  • Work with the Food and Nutrition Manager to implement the day to day operations and procedures.
  • Ensure appropriate stock and resources are available to run efficiently
  • Receive donations for Food Market 
  • Receive and sort clothing for Food Market and distribute appropriate items to Hope Closet
  • Maintain physical logs approved by Rising Hope for record-keeping of all in-kind donations 
  • Assist Volunteers in the stocking and running of the Food Market
  • Maintain Food Market to meet highest standards of cleanliness and ensure proper food handling in accordance with government procedures and guidelines
  • Participate in training as required through our vendors or Rising Hope
  • Distribute government program food items such as TEFAP in accordance with government policies
  • Other duties as assigned by Food and Nutrition Manager

 

Work Hours and Benefits:

  • Part-Time 27 hours/week (9:00a - 5:00p, Tuesday-Thursday), Occasional Saturday as needed
  • Hourly compensation set by SPRC
  • Paid Vacation and Sick Leave

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Must be an advocate of the highest ideals of the spirit and vision of Rising Hope Mission Church
  • Must be able to relate comfortably and confidently with people from very diverse backgrounds and cultures
  • Must be discreet, confidential and respectful, both of volunteers and of food market guests
  • Must be welcoming, positive, enthusiastic, compassionate, non-judgmental and supportive
  • Must be able to balance working on own initiative with being part of a team
  • Ability to repetitively lift at minimum 25-50 pounds
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to pass a background check in order to supervise student volunteers
  • Servsafe Qualified preferred but not required
  • Spanish preferred but not required

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance
