As the weather warms, Gilligan's at the Soho Grand Hotel becomes the ideal open-air backdrop for cocktail parties, dinners, weddings and receptions. Day or night, Gilligan's is an urban oasis where guests can bask in the warm breeze and enjoy a menu full of summertime favorites. We are currently seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join our team.
The Seasonal Sous Chef for Gilligan’s at Soho Grand Hotel assist’s with all tasks necessary for daily operations including service, sanitation, administration as well as overseeing and leading the Gilligan’s kitchen team members. Contribute significantly to the success and excellence of Gilligan’s outdoor kitchen through consistency, cleanliness, diligence, leadership and clear direction from the Chef. The Seasonal Sous Chef with be the lead on ordering and scheduling of the food and kitchen team for Gilligan’s. The Sous Chef is also expected to complete all tasks while staying in compliance with the guidelines set out by the company and under the standards of the New York State department of Health as well as oversee all team members with being in compliance to the same guidelines at all times.
Requirements:
*Must be available to work weekend evenings
*Candidates should have proof of culinary education and/or certificate
*Must have Food Handlers Certification from NY State
*Ability to work at a fast, yet controlled pace while cooking
*At least 1- 2 years experience in a fully operating kitchen of credibility
ABILITY TO
o Maintain all kitchen operations in accordance with New York City department of health and mental hygiene standards
o Manage all food inventories in a clean and organized manner
o Maintain a clean and clearly organized walk in refrigerator
o Perform daily check of all areas of kitchen to ensure properly functioning equipment as well as a safe, clean and well organized working environment
o Maintain a clean and well organized working environment for all kitchen team members
o Ensure that all restaurant waste is disposed of properly, and all waste is kept contained in proper receptacles
o Ensure that all kitchen equipment (all refrigeration, ovens, stove, salamander, grill, ice machine, mixer, dishwashers, slicer and blenders) is regularly maintained and safely functions.
Compensation Details
Compensation: Salary ($70,000.00 - $75,000.00)
